🐾 Dog Information

Dog Tips

Dogs welcome all year, off lead. Keep an eye out for signs throughout your visit. Using a short lead helps to keep your dog from disturbing ground-nesting birds and farm animals. Always clear up after your dog and take poo bags home as there are no dog bins on the beach itself. Water is calm and clear, safe for dog swimming and playing.

Best Time to Visit

Seldom busy, even in summer. Perfect for escaping crowds. Quiet stretch of coast.

Parking

Two main parking options: National Trust car park (DT2 8NG) above Southdown Farm, free for NT members, paid for others (Β£1.60-Β£6.60 for 1-day, JustPark app or machine, long walk to beach). Private car park at Ringstead (near the beach), costs around Β£5 per day. Toll road to Ringstead Bay costs Β£6 per car (April-Oct, Β£3 after 4pm) or Β£3 (Nov-March). Parking also available in the village (pay and display).

Facilities

Toilets (including accessible) located in the car park behind the kiosk/Reef Cafe. No dog waste bins on the beach, nearest in the car park. No showers. Reef Cafe on site, dog-friendly in all areas. No lifeguards.

Accessibility

Accessible toilet by the car park and shop. Path to the beach but no matting on the beach. Easy access to beach viewing point for wheelchair users. Step-free level access into the area via a gate. Steep ancient tracks and sloping paved paths lead to the shingle beach, with a set of concrete stairs. New steps are complete. Might be challenging for very elderly or less mobile dogs, but a slipway near the cafe might offer easier access.
