About Lulworth Cove (Left Slipway)

Lulworth Cove is a stunning, arc-shaped cove with a shingle beach, backed by towering white cliffs. It's a popular spot for its unique geology and calm, sheltered waters, making it suitable for dog walkers year-round on the left side of the slipway. Visitors should be aware of potential cliff falls and ensure dogs are kept under control.

Dogs are allowed on the beach all year to the left-hand side of the slipway. Please clear up after your dog. Best to let them off the lead on the left (far) end of the beach.

Best Time to Visit

Early morning (e.g., 9 am), sunrise/sunset, or November to April to avoid crowds. Mild but sunny days are ideal.

Hazards to be aware of

Mud slides, land falls, falling boulders from cliffs, unstable cliffs, busy with swimmers in warmer months, no lifeguards

Large paid car park (BH20 5RQ), 5-minute walk to the beach. ANPR enabled. Car parking rates: Up to 1 hour Β£3.10, Up to 4 hours Β£12.40, All Day Β£20. Disabled parking available but not exempt from charges.

Free toilets at Visitor Centre and near the Cove. Dog waste bins available. The Boat Shed CafΓ© is at the water's edge. No showers. No lifeguards.

Accessible parking spaces and toilets at Visitor Centre. Access to beach via gentle wide pathway and slip-way. No matting on the beach. All-terrain Tramper mobility scooter available for viewpoints. May not be suitable for those with physical problems or the elderly for areas beyond the cove itself.
