Quieter outside of peak summer and school holidays. The beach is in Poole Harbour, so calm swimming conditions are common. High tide is best for swimming due to shallow waters.

Busy with swimmers (especially in summer), Rip currents (especially near groynes and headlands), Cold water shock, Youths jumping off Lake pier into shallow water

Hamworthy Park Surface Car Park (42-60 spaces) at Lulworth Avenue, BH15 4DJ. Paid parking from 15 March to 31 October (e.g., Β£1.50 for 2 hours, Β£2.70 for 5.5 hours). Free parking from 1 November to 14 March. Can get very busy in summer.
