Branksome Chine Beach is a wide, sandy beach with a gentle slope, boasting Blue Flag status. It offers excellent facilities and is particularly appealing to dog walkers during the off-season when dogs are permitted off-lead. The adjacent Branksome Dene Chine Beach is dog-friendly year-round.

Dog Tips

Dogs are welcome all year at the adjacent Branksome Dene Chine Beach up to the Alum Chine Beach Office. On Branksome Chine's main beach, dogs are not allowed from 1 May to 30 September. From 1 October to 30 April, dogs are allowed off lead on all sections of Branksome Chine Beach. Dogs should be on a lead on the promenade, zigzag paths, and cliff paths at all times. Remember to pick up after your dog; general bins are used for dog waste.

Best Time to Visit

Visit during off-peak seasons (October to April) for dog walking, as seasonal dog bans apply to the main beach from May to September. The Beach Check app can help avoid busy hotspots. Lifeguards are present from late May to early September.

Branksome Chine Surface Car Park (104 spaces) is located next to the beach. A pay and display car park in nearby Beach Road (368 spaces) is also available. Charges apply: £1.80 for 1 hour, £3.90 for over 1 hour up to 10pm, free from 10pm to 8am.
